Shaping the void
Quantum vacuum may be devoid of matter but its shape is still important. The strength of the Casimir force caused by quantum fluctuations in the space between surfaces critically depends on their nano-scale shape. As recently published in Physical Review Letters, the geometrical approximation which is widely used to calculate the shape influence completely fails in this situation. New hints on the Pioneer anomaly
The trajectory of Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 probes in the outer solar system was found not to fit the awaited one.
