Ion traps
are used as a
basic tool in various experiments today, and ion trappers with
different
applications often deal with very similar problematics. In the course
of the
last years, it has become evident, that a training school/workshop
devoted to
the applications of ion trapping would be useful to the concerned
community.
The
workshop adresses
researchers interested in the
various experimental and theoretical aspects of ion trapping, including
atomic
and molecular spectroscopy, metrology, quantum information,
high-precision
determination of atomic ground state properties, cavity QED experiments
as well
as the production of cold molecules. Emphasis is given to tutorial
courses on
basic issues of ion trapping for young researchers. A large time-window
will be
devoted to scientific discussions in the beautiful
environment.
